Hello, my family and I are raising funds for our father, Ish, who was placed on hospice following a diagnosis of esophageal cancer in March 2024. Ish is a Marine veteran and has always strived to be helpful to those in need. Many have described him as a “ray of sunshine” and sometimes too social—he’s the type to strike up a conversation with every worker in the grocery store! Our dad has worn many hats in order to be that support for others: as a mechanic, a carpenter/handyman, a hospice aide, an ear to listen, an honorary Starbucks worker—hosting the breakfast club in the Target on Story/King (iykyk), and even “adopting” extra children along the way.
Ish’s kind heartedness and high esteem for service to others has been passed down to his daughters as well, who are all in helping professions themselves. His legacy of compassion and service will live on through us. My three sisters and I are doing our best to prolong his life and keep him comfortable at home, where he wishes to be. Unfortunately, the expenses for end-of-life care are adding up quickly. Any funds received will go toward hiring an ongoing caregiver, covering travel expenses for his daughters (as we do not all live in his city), and providing readily available meals for the family while we care for him. Other costs include end-of-life preparations, such as cleaning out his apartment and storage unit.
Any and all support is welcome and greatly appreciated, whether monetary in nature or not. Well wishes, check-in calls, support in finding/accessing supportive resources, and in-person visits also make all the difference during this delicate time. Thank you for your time, shares, and consideration to help our family.
