Isaiah Henry is a devoted husband to Madison and a loving father to two young boys, Rhett (2 ½ years) and Bowen (5 months). At just 30 years old, Isaiah’s life took an unexpected turn when he discovered a lump under his right ribs in January. What began as a routine doctor’s visit on February 4th quickly escalated into a whirlwind of tests, scans, and specialist appointments. The diagnosis: a very large retroperitoneal mass, confirmed to be a rare cancer called Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma, which accounts for less than 1% of all cancers.
Isaiah’s journey has included lab work, ultrasounds, CT scans, a mass biopsy, a lymph node biopsy, and a referral to Mayo Clinic—a seven-hour drive from home. The surgeon at Mayo has recommended surgery as the best course of action, which will require removing Isaiah’s right kidney and possibly a section of his large bowel, along with the cancerous mass. Surgery is scheduled for March 23rd, followed by a lengthy hospital stay and a long recovery at home. The risk of recurrence is high, meaning Isaiah and his family will face many more trips to Mayo in the years ahead.
This diagnosis has placed a tremendous emotional and financial strain on Isaiah, Madison, and their boys. Both Isaiah and Madison have recently used their time off for paternity and maternity leave, so they will run out of paid leave during Isaiah’s surgery and recovery. The funds raised will help cover lost income, mounting medical bills, and the significant travel expenses required for treatment and follow-up care.
We are asking for support, prayers, and positive thoughts as Isaiah and his family embark on this scary phase of life. Your generosity will help ease their burden and allow them to focus on healing and being together as a family. Thank you for standing with them during this difficult time.
