Support for Irma’s Family During This Time

My family was struck by the sudden death of my mother, Irma, on February 19. She had just turned 66 in January. She leaves behind my dad, brother, and her three granddaughters.

We immigrated to the US in 2001. From scratch and with a blank slate, my parents worked hard and built a new life for my family in America. My parents goal was to retire early and move back to the Philippines. In 2021, they accomplished that milestone.

The time spent in the 20 years in America with my mom were filled with unforgettable moments. Just like any other family, there were hardships. I learned about the adversities my parents had to overcome later on as an adult. One thing that always stood out about my mom was that she always had a big smile on her face. Genuine happiness. She never brought her troubles to the surface. Even when she was diagnosed with cancer (survivor) in 2018 it was her smile, laughter, and unshakeable spirit that uplifted us. She was a superhero with kindness being her superpower, so much so to a fault.

My mom got to enjoy her retirement back home for only five years. I flew to the Philippines soon after the news of her passing and had to bury her the following day. I knew just how selfless my mom was but to learn about all the good things she's done here to help literally everyone around her was inspiring but also heartbreaking. In addition, she had taken on debt to help her younger brother through his own chemotherapy. That’s who my mom was. She could never say no to anyone and put everyone else first.

As we grieve, we are also facing the financial strain she quietly carried. My dad has lost his partner in life and the person who helped support our family.

We are humbly asking for help to cover the debts and ease the financial burden during this difficult time. Any amount or even sharing this page means more than we can express. Thank you for honoring my mom’s life.
