On October 31st, the lives of our friends changed in a way they never expected. Iris, my friend's brave little girl, experienced an accident and fell from a golf cart. While we are incredibly grateful it wasn’t worse, she did suffer injuries that required immediate care and X-rays. Through those scans, doctors unexpectedly discovered other concerning findings regarding her skull—something called a possible “copper-beaten skull,” which can indicate pressure in the brain. We were told this was likely present before the fall and not caused by the accident. As scary as it has been, we are so thankful this was found now rather than later.

Because of what was seen and some symptoms, the doctors have advised the family to urgently pursue further testing—CAT scans, MRIs, and additional evaluations with pediatric specialists. They are flying to Jacksonville, and Iris will be seen at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. This has all happened very quickly and has been financially overwhelming—especially being so close to the holidays. Between travel, appointments, unexpected costs, and needing to relocate to Jacksonville suddenly, the family was not prepared for this.

Any support during this time would help tremendously with travel and medical expenses they did not anticipate. Most importantly, the family asks for prayers for Iris—prayers for answers, for healing, and for a miracle. Iris is such a strong and brave little girl, and everyone is believing that she is already on the path to healing.
