Support for Injured Postpartum Mother and Her Family
Donation protected
I am SO completely humbled by the outpouring of love and support from my family, friends, and loved ones during an impossible chapter in my and my children’s lives. Asking for help is one of the most difficult things for me to do, especially financial help. But I have reached a point where I am drowning and unable to do everything on my own.
Due to an unexpected family crisis with an indeterminate timeline, I have been providing and caring for my three young children and my newborn alone amidst an incredibly difficult postpartum recovery. Life doesn’t stop when things are difficult, so in addition to sleepless nights with a new baby, caring for my amazing mother with Alzheimer’s, keeping up with her appointments, my son’s pulmonology and speech appointments, etc. has been an overwhelming (yet truly fulfilling) additional load.
Last Friday, Shiloh and I were in a serious car accident during a flash flood. Our only vehicle was totaled and the airbags failed to deploy. I am so eternally thankful that my infant was safely secured in his carseat and acquired no serious injuries. I, however, collided with the steering wheel when turning to reach out for Shiloh and broke my clavicle and a rib. With my injuries, I am unable to continue my current job as a nanny, as I am unable to lift or use my dominant arm for the foreseeable future. I am awaiting an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon to, hopefully, rule out surgical intervention to hold the fractured bone in place. Bills and medical/transportation expenses have begun to pile up, and buying a new vehicle is impossible at the moment, despite the necessity with my daily responsibilities.
I cannot put into words how much I appreciate my friend Julia Cipparulo for helping organize this, my friends Shana and Adam for being absolute rocks for my children and I, and my sister, mom, and Ryan for their time. Any amount helps more than I can express, whether through here or the countless messages and well wishes I have received. Every penny will go directly towards a safe vehicle for my family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
