My coworker is a devoted mother to two children—a 14-year-old and an 18-month-old—who is facing an incredibly challenging time. Recently, she was assaulted and shot by her mentally ill brother while at home with her children. Due to her injuries, she is unable to work and has lost her source of income. This sudden and traumatic event has left her struggling to provide for her family and keep up with everyday expenses.
