Hi everyone! My name is Grace. I am Ilona and Mark’s daughter. For those that do not know, my mom Ilona was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We are so thankful that it was caught early through a routine mammogram. While it is still relatively small, the type of cancer has been described as “high risk”, “aggressive”and “fast growing.” So the fact that it was caught early is a huge blessing and the surgeon is confident that with a lumpectomy, radiation, possibly chemo, Mom will make a full recovery.

During the 2-4 week recovery period post-surgery and during any subsequent treatment, my parents will need support regarding funds for meals, post-surgery supplies, perhaps any medical fees not covered by insurance, and “surprise” expenses. My mom has been the one with the full-time job, the type of work my dad does is more intermittent. So they will be taking a substantial financial cut as well while Mom is unable to work (and we’re not sure yet how long that will be).
