Full Yeeterectomy Funds Insurance Won’t Cover

Hi, my name is Shelby, and I’m reaching out with a vulnerable but hopeful heart. I’m fundraising to cover the cost of a medically necessary hysterectomy—a surgery that my doctor and I have determined is essential for my health, well-being, and quality of life.

While my insurance covers part of the procedure, it doesn’t cover everything. I’m facing out-of-pocket expenses that are more than I can manage on my own, including hospital fees, anesthesia, post-op care, and time away from work to recover safely.

For years, I’ve relied on hormonal birth control to manage painful, debilitating periods that regularly interrupt my ability to live a full and functional life. But the emotional and physical toll of that treatment—and the reminder that my body is capable of something I never asked for or identified with—has weighed heavily on me. This surgery isn’t just a medical solution; it’s a deeply gender-affirming step. Not having periods, and no longer having the capacity to reproduce, brings me closer to feeling truly at home in my body. It’s a relief I’ve longed for—freedom from pain, from dysphoria, and from a cycle that never aligned with who I am.

The total I’m hoping to raise is $4,000, which will go toward:

• Medical bills not covered by insurance

• Travel or recovery-related costs (if any)

• Lost wages during recovery

• Prescriptions and post-operative care
