On May 18th, I went to the ER with immobilizing inflammation pain throughout my body. After being sent home with a prescription, my symptoms worsened, and I returned to the ER on May 21st. By the next day, I was admitted to the hospital with severe swelling in my right leg and intense pain that required morphine and norco to control at times. The initial diagnosis was unclear, and I felt lost, worried, and at times thought I’d die before they found it. Dr. Patel took the time to investigate my case thoroughly, ordering a range of tests and bringing in specialists, including an infectious disease doctor, a kidney doctor, and a bone doctor. Their teamwork gave me hope during a frightening and uncertain time. I underwent CT scans, MRIs, sonograms, and countless blood tests as they searched for answers. The diagnosis was a septic something knee. They had to go in and clean out the infection. My knee was found with 71,000 white blood cells when the normal count is under 5,000.

Now that I’m home, my recovery is far from over. Physical therapy is necessary to regain my strength, and I have to manage ongoing complications like high blood pressure with daily medication.

Asking for help is never easy, but I’m reaching out because I truly need support to get through this difficult time. I’ve always worked hard, sometimes holding two full-time jobs, and never expected to be in this position.
