Support for Hooti to fight Breast Cancer
My dear friend (and probably yours too) Sierra aka Hooti Peterson has been quietly battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer for the past 9 months and could use some serious financial and emotional support to help her keep fighting this fight through this challenging time.
After years on the road as a wig, hair & makeup Supervisor for Broadway Shows like Wicked, Cabaret, Love Never Dies, Cats, & Anastasia Hooti found herself without a job when the Covid pandemic hit. She made her way back to Tucson where she was renting out my guest house awaiting the news that things would get better and life would resume as it had been for her and the many others that relied on this noble profession in the arts to be able to sustain herself financially and finally buy the house of her dreams she had been saving up for. Well we all know what happened next...life didn't resume as normal and everything turned to shit.
Well the shit didn't stop there unfortunately and after the news of a diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer was delivered to her Hooti's life changed in an even more difficult and serious way.
With her savings dwindling and unemployment and insurance coverage hanging in the balance, she decided to move back up to Cave Creek, AZ to live with her Mom, Darrell while seeking treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
Since the diagnosis, Hooti has been through 9 months of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation treatments. She lost her hair (a tough thing for a hair person I'm sure), her career and her dream of settling down and buying a house. She has since had complications from the last surgery and needs to go back in for another operation.
If any of you know Hooti, you know what a light she is to many. Her humor and hijinx are infectious and she has brought a lot of joy and talent to many of us here in the AZ community as well as to almost every state in North America. She has worked long and hard to fight this disease, and now, in what is hopefully the final stretch of this fight could really use some assistance and love returned to her.
Please consider donating here, sharing this campaign with others that know her or her work and reaching out with a word of encouragement. Sierra is definitely a fighter as most of us know. She's got this, she just needs a little hope and help at this time.
Thank you!
