Support for Holly W. and Shaun T.

Hi,

I've generated this fundraising page to raise funds for Holly Williamson and Shaun Terry.

Holly and Shaun have been a couple and living together for two years. Last week, Holly was in a devastating dirt bike accident and her condition is dire.

For those that see this and do not know me personally, my name is Theresa Cover and I am employed as a sergeant for the Overland Police Department. Shaun Terry is an officer on my shift and has been since he started his career at Overland 3 years ago.

On Saturday, October 15th, 2016, Holly and Shaun went to St. Joseph State Park in Missouri for a day of dirt bike riding. They are a very active, outdoorsy couple who do this sort of thing frequently. What Holly didn’t know is Shaun literally had a ring in his pocket and was planning to propose during a stop along the dirt bike trail. He had even gotten another friend to join them on their ride in order to capture the moment on camera. Shortly after the ride began, and prior to the planned proposal, Holly had a major crash and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

The immediate injuries she suffered were a broken spine (thoracic portion), broken arm and fractured skull. She was responsive on scene, however the injury to her spine left her without sensation from the waist down. After arriving at Mercy, she was taken to surgery to repair her spine and the extent of her deficits are unknown. The surgery of course required she be sedated, intubated and put on a vent. After the surgery, but before removing her from the vent, they discovered she had suffered a major stroke and she had massive swelling on the brain. This led to a second surgery on Sunday, where they removed a portion of her skull to relieve the pressure as well as deal with other issues from the stroke.

Since Monday, they have been attempting wean her from the vent and get her breathing on her own. So far, the process has been slow and her vitals are not stabilizing when they attempt to remove her from the sedation drugs.

Holly is and will be in the ICU for an extensive period of time. To say the least, there is a long road ahead. At this time, her hospitalization time is being measured in not days or weeks, but MONTHS.

I cannot imagine the financial impact this will have on them. Which, given her current condition, is the least of the worries in the large scheme of things. However, since I can’t pitch in to fix her actual medical conditions, I feel asking for donations to help their cause is quite possibly the least I can do. They’ll be dealing with their normal bills, hospital bills, transportation and equipment costs, lack of income, etc.

All of the proceeds raised will go to Shaun and Holly. Shaun is aware of, and has given me his blessing, for posting this. He appreciates all of the support, thoughts and prayers they have received thus far.

I know first hand Shaun and Holly have given to many charitable causes, especially when it comes to their brothers and sisters in blue. Now, they need some help.

Thank you in advance for your compassion your and help. I will be posting updates to the page as they develop.
