Support for Herbert and Godkin Families

Hello Brothers and Sisters.
As many of you may have heard our Brother, Wireman Brandon Herbert and his partner Lacey Godkin were in a single car accident early Saturday morning in Juneau, AK by the McDonald's intersection known as McNugget Intersection. The following is the Juneau Police Department Press Release.

Summary:
At around 3:00 a.m. on November 27th multiple 9-1-1 calls were received reporting a motor vehicle accident on Egan Drive near McDonalds. JPD officers and CCF/R were dispatched. Callers located two individuals near the damaged vehicle and reported that one was not breathing. Dispatch provided CPR instructions over the phone and bystanders continued CPR until responders arrived on scene.

It appears that the white 2013 Lexus was driving inbound on Egan and after it passed McDonalds, it drove over the traffic island, struck a traffic pole and rolled before coming to a stop facing outbound in the inbound merge lane close to the Canton House. Both occupants of the vehicle were ejected.

CPR was conducted on a 37 year old female. She was declared deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been notified. A 36 year old male was transported to BRH by ambulance and was later sent out of town on a medevac flight due to the severity of his injuries.

A member of the volunteer Juneau Citizen’s Patrol group and a JPD community service officer responded to assist with traffic control. The roadway was closed for about 5.5 hours. Members of the JPD Major Accident Response Team are investigating the collision. Details will be shared as the investigation progresses.

Obviously this is an enormous loss for these families and Brandon is currently in Anchorage with severe injuries that everyone is rooting for him to overcome. We wanted to give our Brotherhood a chance to give support to the families to help cover whatever costs they may encounter in the upcoming days. I know we are all feeling this profound sense of loss and helplessness in the face of this tragedy and hope this helps with needing a sense of purpose to help. Please respect the families privacy during this time and don't hesitate to reach out to the IBEW if you need someone to talk to. Take care of one another and yourselves.
