My sweet 2-year-old nephew, Henrik, was born with kidney failure. Since birth, Henrik has faced many health challenges, including different dialysis methods and other complex medical hurdles, all on his journey toward a kidney transplant and life as toddler. He has proven to be incredibly strong. Last week, during a routine procedure needed before being placed on the kidney transplant list, Henrik had a negative reaction to anesthesia and went into cardiac arrest. This has led to an extended stay in the Denver PICU, another change in dialysis, and more complications for our sweet boy.

Once Henrik is out of the PICU, he will be on hemodialysis until his transplant surgery, which will require 3–4 trips a week to Denver for treatment. For his parents, this means a lot of commuting and even more schedule juggling. Knowing Anthony and Aspen, they will find a rhythm and handle it with grace, but it will certainly add more complexity to daily life.

Anthony and Aspen are doing an incredible job caring for Henrik, Luka, and Larkin, all while traveling back and forth between Colorado Springs and Denver to be by Henrik’s side. As you can imagine, life is already full with three little ones, and Henrik’s medical journey adds another layer to an already hectic time. Many people have asked how they can support from afar, and this feels like one simple way to offer a little extra help.

Any donations will go toward everyday needs like groceries, gas for the commute, fixing their car’s air conditioner, small comforts for Henrik and his brothers, medical & basic household supplies, and potentially Denver lodging . Anthony and Aspen are truly making it work, but I wanted to create this GoFundMe as a gentle way for friends and family to help ease some of the day-to-day pressure.
