For those that don’t already know, our Phi Kap brother and Seton Hall alumni, Hector Elfante (Pledge Class Spring 09), has passed away from COVID-19, after a strong fight for several days in the hospital. Hector was just 31 years young. 


“He was a nice guy” often sounds cliche and can be used to describe anyone. Not Hector. He was legitimately one of the nicest guys you can meet. If you didn’t like Hector, it’s something wrong with you, not him. Once you had a few beers in him, he became pure entertainment. He was so much fun and would do anything for a laugh. 


Hector was incredibly generous with his time and money while he was with us and truly lived by the Phi Kap motto, “Give, expecting nothing thereof” so we think we need to step in and help his family. It is tough to envision what his family is going through right now... A younger brother that just lost his role model and best friend... An older brother that just lost the best man in his upcoming wedding... And parents that are nurses fighting against COVID-19 on the frontlines who now have to bury their son because of that very virus. 


COVID-19 has left this world in tough times financially, so we all understand if you can’t donate. But if you can, we know every little bit of donations will help a family that just had to say goodbye to their 31-year-old son unexpectedly. 


Lastly, whether it’s COVID-19 or any other disease, any of us can be taken at any time, let’s remember to live life to the fullest with our family, our friends, and our Phi Kap brothers... “If you’re not living life on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.”
