Support for Heather Henry’s Recovery

On January 14, Heather Henry, my daughter, was rushed to IU Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana. Her skin and eyes had turned yellow, and on the way, she suffered cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was revived. Her kidneys and liver were failing, and after two days, doctors airlifted her to Indianapolis University Hospital. There, a team of specialists worked for several days to diagnose her with Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a very rare, life-threatening immune system disorder. Heather is now at Simon Cancer Center, where doctors are searching for treatments to identify and treat why her immune system continues to attack itself.

Heather has worked at Indiana University for over seven years. She is a single mother with an eighth-grade daughter, and her pay was recently cut to 50% while she waits for long-term disability benefits. The sudden loss of income has made it impossible to keep up with her house payments, monthly bills, and caring for her daughter. She won’t be able to return to work for months and the financial gap is overwhelming.

Since January 14, friends, family, and acquaintances have kept Heather fighting for her life with hundreds, thousands of prayers. We appreciate those so much and are grateful for any support you can give during this difficult time. Your help will make a real difference for Heather and her daughter as they face this unimaginable challenge.
