My father, Hal Carter, has been receiving treatments for liver cancer for the last eight months. Although his treatments have been going well, dementia has begun to set in and he’s not doing well with it. My mother has continued working and I have been sending financial help when possible, but without my dad working and only receiving a small social security check each month, my parents have gotten behind on their bills.
I’m hoping to raise funds to help with medical bills, get them caught back up on their rent, help with basic grocery needs, and generally take some pressure off my mom, who is doing absolutely everything she possibly can. I’ve never done this before, and I know my father is a prideful man. I’m working as much as possible and have sold everything I can to help financially support my parents in this difficult time, and don’t know what else to do.
I know I am just a name on a screen sharing a personal story, but any help anyone could provide would mean the absolute world. Every dollar, every share, every time someone just reads this is help that we did not have a day ago. I’m scared to lose my dad and want to do everything possible to make sure he receives the care he needs and gets through this terrible disease.
