Support for Gwen’s GBM Treatment Expenses

My beautiful mom is entering a battle with glioblastoma (GBM) that we could have never anticipated. This diagnosis seemed to come out of nowhere (as it typically does, I guess!), and after just a couple of days of not feeling “right”, she went to the ER on February 23rd where they discovered a brain mass. Less than 24 hours later, she was in surgery to have it removed. Since then, she has been resting and healing (and still working part-time from home, if you can believe it!), and preparing to start chemo and radiation in Miami. It’s been a tough road of learning and praying and seeking and reaching out and waiting, but after some delay, the start day is finally here for her to start in a clinical trial at the Miami Cancer Institute for proton radiation (along with the standard of care chemo drug, Temodar) which we are hopeful will provide the most effective and best tolerated treatment approach available to her. What this means is that she & Bob will be staying in Miami for a minimum of 6 weeks straight as she receives treatment. They are staying at a hotel right next to the hospital, and will have access to a team of providers throughout their stay. Also what this means is a lot of unanticipated expenses, including lodging, travel expenses, medical expenses, etc. They are fortunate in many ways and are wise stewards of their finances, so they would never even think to ask for support. But at this time, even though they haven’t asked, we (family) understand that it would be a tremendous blessing to help them cover all of these expenses, as well as for them to receive our show of love and support for them right now. So, we’re asking on their behalf! Please consider offering anything you can in support of their journey through GBM right now, or just share this link with those who love them to spread the word!
