Support for Gwenette Portera
In July, our mother, Gwenette Portera, was diagnosed with tongue cancer. After bravely overcoming breast cancer in 2018, this new diagnosis has come as a heavy shock to our family.
Surgery to remove the tumor is currently scheduled for August 19, and we hope to gain a clearer understanding of the extent of the procedure following a PET scan on August 12.
Our parents have dedicated their lives to serving others—pouring into the LaBarge, Wyoming community, their local church, and countless people across the U.S. and around the world through their ministry. Their hearts are always open, and rarely does a day go by without them lifting someone else up.
Now it’s our turn to lift them up.
We know the road ahead will be difficult, but we also stand firm in our belief that Jesus will be our mother’s strength every step of the way.
Over the next year or more, our parents will face a demanding schedule of doctor appointments, travel, lodging, meals, and missed work. They have asked for nothing but your prayers and support—and that is truly all they desire.
But we, their children—Dawnette, Justin, Frank, Nanette, and Tony Jr.—are reaching out to ask for your help in easing their burden so they can focus on healing and rest.
If you feel led to help financially, donations can be made through the GoFundMe link below, or directly to their church, with the note:
“Gwenette Portera Gift” in the memo line.
We promise to keep you updated throughout this journey. With most of us living out of state, we are deeply grateful for the love and support we know the LaBarge community and beyond will continue to show them.
From the bottom of our hearts,
Thank you.
Dawnette, Justin, Frank, Nanette, & Tony Jr.
