Support for Guy Hillel
Donation protected
Since this aired on 60 minutes, we have received an outpouring of emotional support with many people asking how they can help Guy right now. We are touched by your eagerness to help - THANK YOU!
As result of the mandated shut downs and social distancing rules in NYC, Guy was forced out of his hospitality job on March 16, and directly impacted by this unprecedented Coronavirus pandemic.
hos·pi·tal·i·ty /ˌhäspəˈtalədē/ noun
1. the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.
During his 20 years in the hospitality industry in New York City,
Guy created special spaces and memorable experiences for you, the guest. He celebrated you when you would gather to eat, drink, stay, play, enjoy each other’s company and live life to the fullest. His role was to welcome, take care of, and create that experience for the guest time after time. His passion of welcoming in new guests and treating them the way he would want to be treated, while creating impressions that stay with you over time, was his natural gift.
Due to the immediate shut down of the hotel and the fast pace of the crisis, no initiatives were put in place on how to support hotel workers like Guy who were suddenly unemployed. While the drastic measures couldn’t be avoided, he feels the devastating impact on every level on a daily basis.
Thank you for your encouragement today, and over the many, many years we’ve enjoyed together. If this outpouring of support has shown anything, it is that we are always capable of helping each other. “I am eager to return to work in the hospitality industry and, once again, be of service in the capital of the world, NYC.”
We hope that you and your families are staying safe and well.
