Juan Guillermo's daughter, Amaia, has been recently diagnosed with kidney cancer. 

For those that have not had contact with Guillermo in a while, he is married to Ana Lucia, they have known each other since university, and together they have a daughter who is now three years old.

Within what is certainly a terrible situation, the outlook is positive. The odds of beating the cancer seem good (TBD based on upcoming tests by the doctors), Guillermo and Ana Lucia are well covered by medical insurance and they have gotten access to a very good private hospital in Guatemala.

The difficult part is that as both of them work independently, Guillermo in IT and Ana Lucia as a psychologist/family therapist, their ability to maintain a stable income during the next 6 months will be severely challenged by the care and attention their daughter needs. This goes from just the logistics of exams, doctors, quimio, etc, to spending time supporting and helping their daughter go through what is bound to be a very difficult period.

I'm kickstarting this fundraising campaign with the aim of taking some of the financial pressure off, so that they can spend some time on what really matters, their daughter.
