Gracie is my baby, my best friend of over eleven years, she’s been with me through thick and thin. We’ve grown up together and created an unbreakable bond like no other, she’s literally permanently tattooed on my body. I love this cat more than anything which is why her most recent vet visit was so hard. A bloated tummy and a couple abnormal behaviors caused me to book a visit at the vet and when I took her in, it was revealed that there’s been some underlying medical issues going on. My sweet girl has strong signs of heart disease, has lost muscle mass, and her blood work showed that she’s significantly anemic, has a low potassium level, and an overactive thyroid. Hyperthyroidism is a common cause of the type of heart disease they suspect Gracie has. In order to move past all of this she needs some more intensive care that I’ve been recommended to an emergency vet clinic for her to receive. There is literally nothing that I wouldn’t do for Gracie but that doesn’t change the fact that the funds I’m currently operating with are limited. The initial diagnostics run were already quite expensive and I’m now working to get the funds together to be able to get my love her additional treatment as quickly as possible- especially as her doctor informed me that waiting in a situation like this can be critical. I’m currently monitoring and treating her with her temporary medication but it’s just a bandaid. Gracie hasn’t thrown in the towel in the slightest though. She still the sweet angel she’s always been, purring and giving kisses- as well as the mischief maker she’s always been, waiting for me to turn my back so she can dig into my human food. She’s the same, just in more discomfort which breaks my heart. She’s going to pull through though, fight this, and have a much longer life. We’re both fighters, we just need a little help right now. Times are tough on everyone right now, we know. Literally anything will help, even if all you can do is share and manifest that Gracie is going to get past this, which she is.
