Gerardo, known to many as Lalo, has been my friend for 10 years. He is the kind of person who is always there for his family and friends, offering support and kindness whenever it’s needed most. On Saturday, Gerardo was involved in a car accident. Thankfully, he is safe, but the aftermath has been incredibly challenging. The car he drove that day was the only means of transportation, essential for getting to work, running errands, and making it to important appointments for him and his family. Because of the accident, Gerardo and his family have not been able to work this week and will miss more work next week as they focus on medical appointments. Missing work means they are losing income that is vital for paying rent and covering daily expenses.

Gerardo is someone who gives so much to others. He works as a care manager at a senior living facility and as a care coordinator at a clinic, where he looks forward to seeing his older friends—affectionately calling them “my viejitos.” His compassion and dedication to helping others is truly inspiring. Now, as he and his family face this difficult time, I hope our community can come together to support them.
