Support for Gary’s Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Gary is the heart of our family—a quiet man with a mischievous side, always ready with a dad joke or a playful prank once you get to know him. He loves cars, antiques, old toys (especially the creepy dolls that give my mom a scare), and spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, or hunting for treasures at garage sales. Most of all, he cherishes time with his family, sharing laughter and making memories.
In January, Gary went to the doctor for abdominal pain and was initially diagnosed with diverticulitis. During scans, doctors found scarring on his liver and nodules on his lungs. After recovering from a severe cold, he underwent a colonoscopy, which revealed a tumor in the first section of his large intestine. Further tests showed more tumors on his lungs and liver, which had grown since the initial scans. Gary was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer, a diagnosis that has changed our family’s daily life and brought new challenges.
Gary was already on disability due to spinal injuries, and my mom, though retired, continues to work as much as possible. With Gary’s diagnosis, her hours will be drastically reduced so she can care for him. We are raising funds to help cover their living expenses, bills, and any additional treatment costs that may not be covered by insurance. Our family is staying positive and grateful for the support we’ve received from our close circle. Gary is in the care of a wonderful oncologist in Duluth, MN, and we are holding onto hope for positive outcomes every day. Any help will allow my parents to focus on what matters most—Gary’s health and time together.
