Support for Gage and Katie Jordan

Donation protected
Gage and Katie Jordan live in Conway have been married nine years. Gage works at Dave Creek Media and is also a Presbyterian minister. Katie is a speech pathologist for Guy Perkins Public Schools. After years of trying to have a baby this sweet couple was told parenthood naturally wasn’t happening for them. These two felt a strong desire to be parents so they acquired a new home and began fostering children through DHS. Gage and Katie met a young man and felt led to bring him into their home permanently.  He was adopted legally last year.

A couple of months ago Gage got the surprise of his life when Katie showed up at his office with a positive pregnancy test. God was blessing them, not only with this young man in their life, but this young man was now going to be a big brother. Life was really, really, good…until the wee morning of August 26, when Gage woke up smelling smoke. He and Katie jumped out of bed, rushed to save their teenage son, and then get out of the house. Their son was not in his room and his window was up. Luckily a passerby saw the blaze and already alerted the fire department which was pulling up as they escaped.

After the fire was extinguished it was determined this was not an accident. It was arson. The fire had been set internally and externally with special concentration at the exits. For reasons unknown, their minor, adopted son had set the house on fire with his parents inside and had even removed the batteries from the smoke alarms. He was arrested the next morning and is facing charges of attempted murder. Gage, Katie and their unborn child escaped with no injuries, however, they are shocked and devastated at what happened. They were put up in a hotel by their insurance company in hopes of getting their home repaired quickly but the insurance company was slow to act.

This week the Jordan’s were notified by the insurance company their claim was denied. Not only would their home not be repaired, but they had until this Friday to find a place to live. The claim was denied because their teenage adopted son set the house on fire. So technically arson by a member of the home. So here we are…a group of friends trying to help out a couple who mean so much to us and our community. We are asking for donations to help defray the cost of repairs for the Jordan home and to provide immediate financial relief for temporary housing. Won’t you help?
