Our community is heartbroken by the tragic drowning and passing of Gabriel Ramirez, a Waukegan teen. Gabriel was my cousin—a truly sweet, non-problematic, and hard-working teen who was deeply committed to his schoolwork. He loved working out and was known for his dedication, often doing DoorDash to help his parents with financial support. Gabriel was only 17 years old, a junior at Waukegan High School scheduled to graduate next year. We have truly lost an angel.
