On the seventh, my world changed forever. My 31-year-old son, who had his whole life ahead of him, was thrown off a black train bridge and robbed. He has not been found in the water yet, and there has been no closure, no answers, and no justice for what happened to him. He had been working hard and saving up to get an apartment, always striving to build a better life. He was a kind, caring person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.
Just as I was trying to process this tragedy, my 28-year-old daughter, who had recently undergone open heart surgery and a valve replacement, began having what we thought were seizures. It turned out she was suffering from strokes. Yesterday, she had three strokes in a row. I gave her CPR and called 911, but she was pronounced dead at 5:02. She leaves behind two young children, ages nine and ten, who now need me more than ever. My daughter was a loving mother and a hard worker, always willing to help others and give whatever she could to those in need.
In the last 17 days, I have lost both of my only two children. The pain is unimaginable, and every day I am reminded of their kindness and the love they shared with everyone around them. Now, I am faced with the overwhelming responsibility of raising my grandchildren, covering funeral expenses for my daughter, and continuing the search for my son's body, which may require hiring divers. I am reaching out for help because I cannot do this alone. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and my family as we try to find a way forward after this unimaginable loss. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
