On December 5, my nine-year-old cousin Shomima was struck by a van and suffered severe injuries. The medical team did everything they could, but we have lost her.
My uncle and his family arrived in Surrey only a month ago from Bangladesh, hoping to rebuild their lives after years of hardship as Rohingya Muslims from Burma. This loss has left them devastated, and they are trying to cope while adjusting to a new country.
