On Friday, January 23, my father was spending time in his shop building when the unexpected happened. There was some sort of explosion and the building immediately went up in flames. A couple of brave men rushed in to pull him from the building, but it was too late. My dad suffered burns on 90% of his body and lungs and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. We are devastated. I am asking for help on my mother’s behalf. She has found herself in an extremely difficult situation emotionally but also financially as something like this was not planned for. The family is doing what we can to help, but she could use more help than we can give. Not only do we need help with funeral services, but extensive cleanup and repairs on the property. The fire left the home without electricity, running water, and gas all weekend throughout the winter storm, creating new challenges and forcing her to make accommodations elsewhere. Her home is currently unlivable due to several water pipes busting.
