Support for family of son with new diagnosis of MG
This GoFundMe has been organized to alleviate some of the financial strain our friend, Katrina, faces in the wake of her son’s Myasthenia Gravis diagnosis. Katrina’s teenage son Bishop was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) in November 2020. MG is a chronic autoimmune neuro-muscular disorder characterized by a breakdown in communication between one’s nerves and muscles. Symptoms include muscle weakness that can lead to, among other things, difficulty walking, speaking, chewing, and seeing.
Though not curable, treatment for Myasthenia Gravis is available to to hopefully put him in remission, and this mother/son team deserves every opportunity to explore all treatment options. This is where our friends could use some support. Bishop currently receives MG treatment in Atlanta every three weeks. Treatment appointments are hours long and require overnight stays out of town. Medical, lodging, transportation, and meal costs are necessary expenses with MG treatments. As any great parent would, Katrina takes these financial hits in stride, never complaining or wavering from doing everything she can to help her only child live the most comfortable and normal life possible. Katrina is a single mom and, though grateful to receive it, the absolute last person to ask for help. Future MG treatment could include a thymectomy to surgically remove Bishop’s thymus gland. We would like our loved ones to be as financially ready for whatever treatment the future holds. With your help, we know this is possible.
Your financial and prayerful contributions are greatly appreciated.
