New Fund Raiser for Funeral Costs.
On January 24th, a devastating fire broke out in the home of Ron and Francis, two beloved members of our community. The fire spread quickly, and in a heroic act of love and courage, Francis risked everything to drag Ron from the burning home.
Tragically, Ron passed away on the way to the hospital. Francis survived but is currently in intensive care, recovering from severe injuries.
This loss is especially heartbreaking because Ron was a cornerstone of our community. Among his many contributions, Ron helped organize Halifax’s very first Pride parade, a legacy of love and acceptance that has left an indelible mark on our city. His passion and dedication made Halifax a better place for so many, and he will be deeply missed.
The fire completely destroyed their home, leaving Francis with nothing. He has lost his partner of many years, his possessions, and his sense of security—all in a single, unimaginable moment.
We are coming together as a community to raise funds for Francis as he faces the long journey ahead. When he is released from the hospital, he will need to rebuild his life from scratch. Our goal is to provide him with the resources he needs to begin again—whether that’s finding a new home, replacing essential belongings, or simply offering some comfort during this heartbreaking time.
