3/16/26:
Our beloved Francis battled a terrible disease over the past two years. He faced it with extraordinary bravery and grace, continuing to show up for our family and his work with remarkable steadiness.
Francis loved being a dad more than anything. Alice and Violet were the center of his world, and he brought endless patience, warmth, and devotion to being their father.
Teaching also meant a great deal to Francis. He was deeply committed to his students and brought equanimity, care, and integrity to the classroom every day. The admiration he received from students and colleagues reflected the kind of impact he had.
When things were hard, Francis would often say, “We just have to keep going.” That’s exactly how he lived.
Francis had a quiet, gentle giant presence that made people feel safe, supported, and cared for. We are heartbroken and devastated to lose him.
For Alice and Violet, and for everyone who loved him, we will carry his words with us and keep going.
With love,
Bianca

2/19/26:
Since his cancer diagnosis two years ago, our dear friend and colleague, Francis Mayle, has faced many challenges with quiet strength and grace. As he has run out of treatment options, the road ahead for Francis and his family will not be easy. As someone who has always given so much to those around him, Francis is now in need of support from his community.
Many of us have already shown our care by donating days or offering words of encouragement. For those who are willing and able to help in other ways, we are taking up a collection to assist Francis and his family with whatever needs may arise. Whether it’s covering medical expenses, helping with daily necessities, or simply easing some of the practical burdens during this time, every gesture is appreciated.
Your support will help Francis and his family navigate this challenging period.
