On Sunday night Följ showed no interest in food, had piles of vomit with blood present, slightly labored breathing and could not keep water down. She hadn’t eaten since 7AM. She was very not like herself. We ended up bringing her to AERC for emergency care. She was admitted to the ICU where she had the best possible care. Bloodwork all came back with minimal concerns, aside from a possible infection in her GI. Monday she still would not eat and had very bloody diarrhea all day. She had an ultrasound showing no underlying conditions to why her GI system was so upset. She was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis, inflammation of the stomach and intestines, and was still not well enough to come home. On Tuesday I got a call in the morning that they couldn’t keep a catheter in her legs and that a nasal tube was the next step to help drain fluid and provide nutrients/proteins to attempt to reduce the inflammation. By Tuesday night Följ was showing some interest in food. Wednesday came along and she was definitely acting more herself but still having some issues with diarrhea. She was comfortably discharged in the afternoon. I will say that TWO animal emergency visits were not on my Bingo card for 2025.

My gratitude to everyone who helped with Romeo is endless, with the generosity I was able to reduce my financial strain and be able to grieve and work on mending my soul without constantly thinking “how am I ever going to pay all of this off”. From the bottom of my heart… Thank you I asked a lot for help with Romeo and I’m again asking for some help with Folj’s medical bills.
