I gave up my Job and Company Car to pursue my Golf Dream!

My name is Julian Wood (28), and for me it’s now or never. I have decided to take the plunge to try and make a career from playing golf. This will not be an easy journey and maybe it is a bit crazy, but the truth is I don't want to live my life with regret. I am ready to give it my all and am looking for your support in any way you can.
The reality and challenge of turning professional is managing the very significant additional costs involved, including entry fees, travel expenses, equipment, coaching and living costs. Not being from a wealthy background, I am having to work hard and save to make this dream happen.
So I’ve set up this Crowdfunder in the hope of some support from family, friends or anyone who would like to help.
I will first be competing in the Clutch Tour 2025 and then Q School in September to hopefully gain entry onto the Challenge Tour or even the DP World Tour next year.

My Story:
- I am born and based in Sheffield, have a handicap of +3, represented my county (Yorkshire) and competed in major competitions around the country, including reaching the quarter finals of the English Amateur in 2022 and 3x Sheffield Plate winner.
- At 26, after years of ups and downs with my golf, I felt it would be too much of a challenge to turn pro, so I got a full time job as a golf course surveyor, creating yardage books for golf courses around the world.
- Still playing good golf, in September 2024 I took the plunge as an amateur to enter Q School for the first time to see what would happen. Even though I didn’t progress further, my performance there confirmed that I could compete with Tour pros. That was it.
- I packed my full time job in and started working locally in a pub and as a personal trainer to make ends meet, leaving more time during the day to prepare myself for the 2025 golf season.
- But to give myself the best chance to succeed I would like to limit my hours in the pub, so I can fully focus on my golf.
I'm very excited and optimistic for the year ahead and would really appreciate any support you can provide.
Thanks so much and bring on 2025!
