I have dedicated the past six years of my life to serving my community as a firefighter. At 34 years old, I never imagined that a heart injury on the job would bring my life to a standstill. Now, I am unable to do any of the work I love, and even simple activities that raise my heart rate over 100 are off-limits. My doctors have made it clear that I need to focus on recovery, which means I can't work, exercise, or lift anything for the time being.

This sudden change has been incredibly difficult, both emotionally and financially. I have always prided myself on being strong and independent, but right now, I am facing a hardship I never expected. With no way to return to work and mounting living expenses, I am now at risk of losing my housing.
