Erika and her two dogs, Shaq and Arya, lost their home in the Eaton Canyon fire in Altadena, CA. Not only was this their home, it was a haven that Erika would selflessly open up to friends and family to gather for celebrations. It was also where she raised and said goodbye to Jordy and Pepper, her two amazing dogs.
Erika’s kindness meant that at 3 a.m. as she was taking shelter in a parking lot trying to find dog-friendly hotels, a friend reached out to offer her a room in her own home.
Erika now needs our help. Please donate what you can. These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!

Update: February 5, 2025
Our best friend, Erika A. McCarden completely lost her home in the Eaton Canyon Fire and we are raising money to help with her recovery. ALL proceeds raised will benefit and shall be transferred from the primary collection account to Erika's personal account.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We want to take a moment to again thank all of you for the incredible outpour of love, support and generosity during this challenging time for Erika, and her dogs Arya and Shaq.
Here are some updates on their journey:
* They have settled into a long-term apartment rental, and despite the bold coyotes in the area, are enjoying walking the neighborhood.
* Arya and Shaq have made new friends in the building, and still have their regular weekly play dates at the park w/ their friends. Since they no longer have a doggy door, they also have 3 walks a day, and enjoy catching rays on the balcony.
* Erika is studying WSET Level 3 at the Napa Valley Wine Academy, which has proven to be a great distraction. She also rejoined her hiking group, and went on her first hike since the fire in celebration of Women’s History Month.
-Currently, Erika is navigating the arduous paperwork and inventory of all possessions for the insurance, while preparing for the rebuild plans and permits process.
-The County debris removal has taken place, leaving behind an empty lot which was once known as home. Prior to the debris removal, Erika, with the help of close friends found her favorite ring during a “dig.” The cherished garnet birthstone ring was gifted on her 16th birthday by her mother. It was the only item recovered in the fire. She lost everything, leaving with only the clothes on her back, dogs, purse and laptop.
-Erika is grateful for your continued check-ins via email, text, and social media, along with your continued support.
We will continue to keep you updated as she continues to makes progress.
Again, thank you!
