Support for Finn

Alyshia and Kyle Bisier welcomed Finn James Scott, the most precious baby boy into their family at 8:50 pm on November 21, 2017 at North Bay Regional Health Centre. Finn was born weighing 5 pounds and 13 ounces but with no heartbeat – it took 15 really long minutes to get him intubated and stabilized.
A medical team came from Ottawa at 4 am and took Finn by ambulance to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Finn is intubated and undergoing further assessments and testing now that he is at CHEO.
Alyshia and Kyle have been told that the best assessment was that Finn stopped growing a few weeks ago, and was born without any amniotic fluid. His lungs were full of meconium. His sugars were high and his blood has a clotting disorder. Assessments are continuing with regards to the functioning of his brain, liver, kidney and other vital organs.
Finn is attached to a large number of tubes and medical devices. He does not show a lot of movement and can’t urinate but he does open his eyes that are a wonderful window into his brave and beautiful soul. The doctors are keeping Finn’s temperature low to minimize swelling of his brain. The doctors have advised that Finn definitely has a brain injury but won’t know the full extent until they start warming him at the 72 hour mark, undergo 24 hour EEG for the seizures and waiting on an MRI on day 5 to show more extensive knowledge of the brain damage.
Aylshia and Kyle love their little man so very much and along with grandparents Shari and Jim Degagne, Gilles and Diane Bisier and Jody and Corrina Simms, have not left his side. They want to spend as many waking moments as they can with Finn. As a young couple just starting out in life together they also have bills to pay and now the extra burden of traveling and staying away from home. Taking time off work for Kyle will add another huge burden.
Please know that your donation of any amount is accepted with all of the gratitude that Alyshia, Kyle and their families can give. The love, support and positive thoughts being sent from so many people are much appreciated. Please keep little Finn in your hearts and prayers. We will keep you posted on his progress.
