My name is Chris Parris, I am the NATCA facility representative at Houston ARTCC in Houston, TX, and an Alternate Regional Vice-President for NATCA Southwest Region. And today, I reach out with the following request:
Chris Somers, 12 year US Air Force veteran, current Air Traffic Controller and NATCA Facility Representative at Federal Contract Tower Chennault ATCT located in Lake Charles, LA, and his family, have had a very rough several months. The Somers family found themselves in the direct path of both Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta. Laura left them without power and running water for weeks on end and damage to their home. Delta left more damage and a foot of water in the Somers home. They lost a long list of personal items with the flood, too much to list, from furniture to clothing to you name it.
Chris is married with an adult daughter and two young sons. Chris's daughter also got hit with major damage by Hurricane Laura, destroying her family's home. Her family moved in with Chris and his wife right before Hurricane Delta came knocking and left the Somers home all but uninhabitable.
Chris has found a home to move his family to in Bridge City, TX. Funds are very tight for the family, with the hits that keep on coming. Chris is not the type to ask for a helping hand, that is where NATCA comes into play.
I'm asking anyone who reads this to dig deep and let's show the Somers family some love during a very rough patch for our fellow NATCA brother and his family. All funds raised will be used by the Somers family to relocate and replace the long list of belongings that have been lost, and help them get back on their feet.
