Support for Federico Rombaoa and Family

I unfortunately am sharing the sad news of the passing of my father, Federico Rombaoa, on July 11th, 2020. After 26 days of fighting for his life in the ICU, he passed due to respiratory and other complications due to COVID-19.
On the morning of June 16th, my brother brought my dad to the ER at Kaiser Anaheim Medical Center due to his symptoms of shortness of breath and inability to breathe. He was then intubated and placed on a ventilator due to his severe respiratory symptoms and very low oxygen saturation levels.
Although his initial prognosis was that he would not survive that first night at the hospital in the ICU, my father continued to fight for his life for 26 days. Throughout the duration of his battle, he faced pneumonia, ARDS, atrial fibrillation, UTI, kidney failure/dialysis, and many other complications brought upon by COVID-19. Before the dawn of July 11th, my mother and I received the final call from the ICU doctor at 4:30am that my father “had put up a good fight,” but sadly had passed away at 4:15 am due to shock and complete shutdown of vital organs such as the heart and lungs.
Originally from the Philippines (Ayson, Gerona, Tarlac), my dad was loved by many across the world. He had numerous connections and established many close relationships with family and friends both back in his home country, his immediate family’s home country, and abroad. I am grateful for the family members that were able to share their kind words with my father via video calls to the hospital during his final days.
My father is survived by my mother (Cecilia), my two brothers (Charles, Quincy), and myself.
I am writing to humbly ask for your support for my family during this extremely difficult time. In addition to the funeral costs and medical expenses for maximal hospital care for nearly 4 weeks, my family and I also face financial difficulties due to decreased work hours (due to covid and quarantine) and a need to adjust our housing/living arrangements rapidly by the end of July. Our goals are to hopefully offset the monetary costs of my dad’s covid battle and for my mom, Charles, and me to live together under one roof again as soon as possible.
Thank you to the many people who have supported my family during this summer with your phone calls, FB messages, text messages, and prayers. Lastly, I wish everyone love, good health, and safety during this time of pandemic.
