Fausto Valencia has always been the heart of our family. Before ALS, he was the one who would help me and my sister with anything we needed, whether it was food, rides, or just being there for us. He worked hard six days a week, but still found time to take us out on weekends and make sure we felt loved and supported. Even though he was a quiet and private person, he never hesitated to come see us when we needed him. His kindness and willingness to help others made him a father figure to me, my sister, and my son.

Since being diagnosed with ALS, everything has changed for Fausto and for our family. He has lost the ability to walk and talk, and now struggles to eat, drink, and even breathe on his own. My 16-year-old sister and I are doing our best to care for him, but it’s been incredibly hard, especially as I am not in a stable job right now. We recently brought Fausto to live with my mom so he could be surrounded by family who truly care about his well-being. Every day, we help him move from bed to wheelchair, and we’re trying to get equipment like a portable potty and medical supplies to make his life more comfortable. We also need to cover the cost of food, transportation to medical appointments, and other daily needs.
