Support for Family of Gatmai Mathiang Chatiem

Gatmai Mathiang Chatiem passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Friday, November 3, 2023. He leaves behind 6 children - Nyadoula, Nyakim, Jal Forcier, Nyawun, Mathiang, Joshua with his wife Nyayuoge in Entebbe, Uganda and 2 children - Ngour and Jima with his wife Katile in Khartoum. Katile and the children have been displaced by the ongoing conflict and are currently in Um Thunguor Refugee camp. He was in the process of helping them relocate back to South Sudan.

Everyone who encountered Gatmai was touched by his pure soul and selflessness. His willingness to help anyone in need was unmatched. So many have stories of how he helped them, guided them, or gave them advice in a difficult situation.

His body is currently being returned to his hometown of Leer in Unity State, South Sudan.

This fundraiser is to provide ongoing support to Gatmai's wives and children. In particular, our aim is raise at least $15,000 to finish paying the installments on the house he was purchasing in Uganda, and raise additional funds to help his wife and children leave the refugee camp in Sudan to safety. After everything Gatmai has done for all of us, I know his one request would be that we take care of his wives and children in his absence.
