Support for Family Battling Early Onset Alzheimer's

Hello,

I was given permission from my family to tell their story and ask for help. Anyone who knows my parents knows of their willingness to help others, but they are not always ones to ask for help themselves. We would not be doing this if we had any other option.

In June of 2024, my mom was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia. This diagnosis came after recently losing both her parents to dementia. In January of 2025, her diagnosis was changed to Early Onset Alzheimer’s thanks to genetic testing results.

My mom’s neurologist advised that my mom stop working. So, in August of 2024, my mom left her job that she was faithful to for 18 years. We have been trying to get her approved for social security disability since then. In April of 2025, she was denied social security. We are now working with lawyers to appeal this decision, and we have a long road ahead.

In the meantime, my dad has been working full time and trying to make enough money to support my parents and my 28 year old brother who has down syndrome. They are struggling to keep up with bills. With everything going on, this is the last thing they should be worrying about.

I am here asking for any help we can get to keep my parents and brother afloat. I understand that times are hard for many people right now. If you are unable to give, please share instead.

Thank you for your time :)
