Our Family Just Lost Its Father — Six Children Need Help Now

On April 1st, I buried my husband after a year and a half battle with cancer. We were married for 23 years. Today, I am a widow raising six children alone.

Our children are Daniil (22), Sofia (19), Elisei (13), David (19), Olga (6), and Katerina (4). One of our children has autism and requires constant care. The youngest girls are only 4 and 6 years old and still ask when their father is coming home. They do not yet understand that he is gone forever.

We are a Ukrainian refugee family that has already lost almost everything once before. In 2022, we fled the war in Ukraine to save our lives. A year later, a Russian missile struck our home, destroying it. Twenty-one people died that day, including nine children. By God’s grace, we were already gone, but everything we had built was lost.

In 2024, we came to the United States hoping for safety and a fresh start. Just two months after arriving, my husband became seriously ill. For the next 18 months, he fought bravely through chemotherapy and radiation. We stood by him every day, believing he would recover. Instead, on March 28th, he passed away.

During his illness, only my oldest son and I were able to work. I worked part-time while caring for my husband and our child with autism. Now, without him, our family faces overwhelming challenges — funeral expenses, daily living costs, and the responsibility of caring for six children alone.

We have always worked hard and helped others whenever we could. Now, in our darkest moment, we are asking for help.
