JC Fuller has struggled with mental illness for longer than any of us have known. Once a professional basketball player who played at the JUCO and D1 levels, competed overseas, and helped train young athletes, JC was a loving father, friend, and partner. During his professional career Jc has experienced many concussions throughout his basketball career and in that along with any mental challenges he was already dealing with…. Over time, his mental health challenges became overwhelming, despite the best efforts of his family and loved ones to support him. Unfortunately, his illness led to a devastating tragedy—one that has forever changed the lives of many. Jc has not passed, but someone has lost their life and countless life’s (including Jc’s children) will forever be altered.
JC’s first child, Aaliyah, who is 9 years old, was/is truly the light of his life and everyone who knew/knows him could see that. Even when he was struggling with mental illness, his love for Aaliyah was never in question. She at times, is the only light in his darkest times, and whenever he speaks/spoke to her, the old JC—the one before mental illness took over—would shine through. His love for his daughter was unwavering, even as he battled with himself and the world around him.
The mother of JC's most recent child is due to deliver in less than two weeks. She is facing this life-changing moment while struggling financially and emotionally, having witnessed the traumatic event that took place. She recently started a new job but does not qualify for paid maternity leave or short-term disability, leaving her with only unemployment and state assistance, which is not enough to cover her rent, moving expenses, and the essentials she and her baby will need. She also urgently needs counseling and support to begin healing from the trauma she has experienced.
This fundraiser is dedicated to helping her (Nila) and their son, as well as his other children who have now lost the physical and financial support of their father.
Any funds raised will go first to support the mother and her newborn, ensuring they have a safe place to live, access to counseling, and everything needed for a healthy start.
If we are able to raise more than the initial amount, the additional funds will be shared with JC's other children, including Aaliyah, who are also deeply affected by this tragedy. Should the fundraiser exceed expectations, we hope to offer support to the family of the man who lost his life, if they are willing to accept it.
I, Tahlya, the mother of his firstborn will be handling and distributing the funds. Anybody who knows me, knows that I always prioritize the children and what is right. My heart goes out to everybody affected, especially the children and person who lost his life and his family. I am praying for everybody and their mental and physical well being. We have all watched Jc’s mental illness become someone we don’t even recognize. And knowing him since we were 17-18 years old, this is not him.
Jc’s son’s mom’s (Nila) registry is down below:

Any help and prayer is appreciated. As for Jc’s kids, I pray that they all know that if their father was of sound mind… he would want them all to know how much he loves them.
Regardless, words can’t express the sympathy and empathy we have for the man who lost his life and his family.
Thank you everybody for reading, sharing and (if able/you decide) donating. Your kindness and generosity can bring hope and stability to these families as they begin to rebuild their lives.
