Help Us Save Our First Home – We’re Out of Options And Facing Serious Health Risks.

My wife, Kenzie, and I poured everything we had into buying our first home, a dream we’ve worked so hard to achieve. But that dream quickly became a nightmare. After moving in, we discovered multiple hidden problems, including a crawlspace full of standing water that the sellers never disclosed and that was missed during inspection. The contractors informed us that repairs will cost over $21,000, with the possibility of rising costs as they uncover more damage.

The situation is dire. The crawlspace is filled with harmful mold that’s making the air in our home unsafe to breathe. The repairs involve removing the mold, waterproofing the area, replacing structural supports, installing new insulation and ventilation, and redoing the floors. On top of the health risks, the mold removal process requires industrial equipment that’s also dangerous to breathe in, forcing us to relocate for at least a month, possibly longer.

After consulting with lawyers, we learned that the sellers should be held accountable. But the cost of legal action is at least double the cost of repairs—something we simply cannot afford.

This is our last resort. Without these repairs, we will be stuck living in a house that could kill us. The mold poses serious health risks, especially for Kenzie, who is in a wheelchair and already battling an autoimmune disease. She can’t work and is still waiting for her disability benefits to begin after our recent cross-country move. I’m taking on multiple jobs in addition to my social media work to contribute as much as I can, but it’s not enough to cover the overwhelming costs we’re facing.
