Evelyn Wilkerson and Jimmy McDonald’s lives changed suddenly when they traveled to Florida in preparation for their baby’s arrival. Evelyn, concerned about her baby’s movement, trusted her instincts and went to the emergency room. She was quickly life-flighted to Pensacola for an emergency c-section, delivering their daughter Millie three months early. Millie is now in the NICU, being closely monitored for possible brain injury and/or internal infection. While Evelyn and Jimmy are grateful to welcome their baby girl, they are facing an unexpected and difficult journey far from home.

The family is currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola, unable to return to their home in Oklahoma while Millie receives critical care. Both Evelyn and Jimmy are on temporary work leave due to the sudden relocation, and Jimmy is searching for work in Pensacola to continue to support their family. The financial strain of medical bills and living expenses is overwhelming, especially as they plan their relocation back home in Oklahoma after the next few upcoming months in the NICU. Friends and family want to help, but the distance and travel costs make it hard to offer support in person.

Evelyn and Jimmy are doing their best to stay positive and make the most of their time together, even finding joy in small moments like Evelyn seeing the ocean for the first time.
