Hello,
I am the volunteer manager of the U18 ST703 Strathcona Warriors minor hockey team and we are asking for your support for our teammate, Ethan Berry, and his family during an incredibly difficult and life-changing time.
On February 1, 2026, during a regular season game at our local Ardrossan rink, Ethan's life changed in an instant. After taking a significant hit, he was unable to get up and was rushed by ambulance to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. He was diagnosed with multiple spinal fractures and underwent surgery shortly after arrival. Ethan has been in the ICU since that night, facing the daunting reality of a severe spinal cord injury.
A life changing moment for a graduating player.
This was supposed to be a year of celebration for Ethan. A grade 12 student and graduating year of U18 minor hockey, he was looking forward to finishing his final season in the sport he has loved since he first stepped on the ice. Instead of preparing for graduation and playoffs, he is now beginning the long difficult road of rehabilitation.
How you can help
The Strathcona Warriors are standing united to support the Berry family. The journey ahead will be long, and significant financial burden. We are raising funds to assist with:
- Medical Rehabilitation: Vital specialized therapy and care.
- Adaptation Requirements: Necessary modifications for his daily living and future independence.
- Future Education: Ensuring Ethan can still pursue his dreams of attending university.
- Research Support: A portion of proceeds will be shared with Spinal Cord Injury Research to help others facing similar battles.
Thank you for standing with Ethan. Whether through donation, or sharing this page, or keeping him in your thoughts, your support means the world to the Berry family and by extension to our hockey team(family). #EB8 #strathconawarriorsstrong #SWSEB8
