Our family is asking for support for our brother, Ernie, and his wife and children as they face an overwhelming and unexpected medical crisis.

Recently, Ernie became critically ill and his condition deteriorated rapidly. His heart function dropped to 15–20%, and despite every effort, his doctors made the urgent decision to transfer him to another hospital where he was placed on ECMO life support. This machine is currently doing the work of his heart and lungs while his body fights to recover. He has already endured moments where his care team had to act quickly, and we are grateful he is still with us today.

While we are hopeful — and truly seeing signs of improvement — the journey ahead remains uncertain. His medical team is determining the next best steps for him, each of which comes with a long recovery, extensive medical care, and significant costs.

This has turned life upside down for his wife and children. We’re hoping to ease some of that stress so they can focus on his healing and recovery — not on how they will pay for medical bills, travel to and from the hospital, or everyday necessities.
