It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of my dad Ernesto Melendez on May 9th, 2026 after his 6-year battle with Perry syndrome. Perry syndrome is a rare disease that affects the brain and nervous system, causing problems with movement, breathing, and overall health over time. This rare illness took such a toll on him and on our family, and losing him has left us devastated.

My dad worked as an automobile mechanic for 32 years. He loved playing soccer and listening to music. His final days consisted of non-stop karaoke, dancing, and even learning to play the piano. My dad was a loving father, husband, brother, and friend who meant so much to everyone who knew him. Even through his illness, he showed strength, love, and courage that we will never forget. Through everything he went through, my dad held strongly to his faith. His strength, love, and trust in God helped carry him through some of the hardest moments, and he continued to be a light to the people around him.

We are now facing the difficult task of planning his funeral and memorial services while grieving this unimaginable loss. We are asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and give him the peaceful goodbye he deserves.
