As some may already know, the past three to five years have not been easy for Erin, her husband Eric, and their young son, Eli. Erin has been quietly fighting a severe and progressively worsening set of health conditions that have changed every part of her daily life. Despite extensive medical evaluation, there is still no diagnosis and no clear answers.
What does daily life look like for Erin? What began as unexplained symptoms has developed into a complex condition affecting her body, cognition, and independence. Erin now lives with daily full-body pain (7 out of 10 at best), constant migraines that affect her vision, vertigo, and severe fatigue that often leaves her unable to function until late afternoon, if at all. Her mobility is limited, and she now requires canes or a wheelchair when leaving the house. Even basic self-care is difficult; bathing, for example, can be unsafe due to vertigo. She also experiences significant cognitive impairment. Severe brain fog, memory loss, and difficulty with decision-making make it extremely hard to complete or understand everyday tasks. She now relies on alarms and reminders for basic needs such as taking medication and brushing her teeth.
Her condition has also impacted her safety and daily routine. Tasks that were once second nature, like cooking, have become unpredictable and at times dangerous. There have been incidents where she unintentionally started small kitchen fires while trying to prepare meals for her family. She was once highly organized and structured, but now struggles to maintain any consistent routine. There have been multiple hospital stays throughout her illness, beginning as early as Fall 2022, as doctors continue to investigate every possible lead without a clear diagnosis so far.
Through all of this, Eric has become the sole full-time provider for the household, while also serving as the primary caregiver for both Erin and their 5-year-old son. Their son’s early childhood has been shaped by a reality where his father is holding everything together financially and emotionally, while his mother is seriously ill. Right now, the family is under significant financial and emotional strain as they continue navigating this ongoing medical crisis without answers.
This fundraiser is for a family we know and love, to help support Erin’s medical care, ongoing testing, treatments, and daily living needs, while easing the financial burden placed entirely on Eric as the sole provider and caregiver. Funds will go toward medical appointments and ongoing care, diagnostic testing and specialist visits, treatments and symptom management, basic living expenses during unemployment, care-related costs and household support.
Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, means more than they can express. It provides stability, time, and relief while Erin continues to seek answers and care, and while Eric works to keep the family afloat. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping in any way you can.
