Support for Endometriosis Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Hi friends and family!
I am asking for financial assistance for my upcoming surgery on July 19th, 2024 to remove my endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition I've had for most of my life, however, I just got the official diagnosis, so I'm finally able to treat it. Unfortunately, each month the pain is worse than the last. Endo can be very different from person to person, but here is what it's like in my experience. Essentially, endometriosis is like a web in the lower abdomen. It is endometrial tissue, the tissue that lines a woman's uterus each month, but it's growing in places it shouldn't be outside the uterus. I won't know until surgery how far mine has spread, because it rarely can be seen on any radiology imaging. What they could see on mine though, were two very large endo cysts on one of my ovaries. Typically, these cysts only happen if it's in the later stages and deep infiltrating. That means that it has most likely spread to other organs. Judging by my symptoms, we can assume it is at least on my bladder and it's suspected that my uterus is fused back. Endo can also spread to kidneys, lungs, heart, and in rare cases, even the brain. As most of you know, I've donated one of my kidneys, so this surgery is extremely important to ensure it doesn't damage my remaining one. My doctor also said that due to all the scar tissue, it will be almost impossible to conceive a child naturally. Surgery will also help to keep what little odds I have left of conceiving. It has also caused me debilitating pain that gets worse with my cycles, but never completely goes away. This pain gets so severe that my body shakes and I throw up. I am also on a medication that I have to take during my cycles that is anti-hemorrhaging, to prevent too much blood loss.
I am not sure how much the surgery itself will cost me yet, however I do have decent insurance as well as a discount for working at the hospital. This fundraiser is to help with bills while I take time off to heal. Any extra that is raised will go towards the medical bill.
Thank you!
